(AllHipHop News) Puma is paying tribute to the company’s basketball heritage by reinventing its 1990's Palace Guard shoes. Named in honor of The Palace of Auburn Hills in Detroit, the 2019 editions are called the Palace Guard OG and the Uproar Palace Guard.
“Puma is a global sports brand that has been around for more than 70 years, and it’s important for us to honor our history while bringing new ideas that will help to define our future – and the new Uproar Palace Guard does just that,” says Adam Petrick, Puma Global Director of Brand and Marketing. “The original Palace Guard was worn by NBA legends in the late 80’s, and we look forward to having both the original and the new version being a part of basketball and streetwear culture in the coming years.”
Detroit's own Big Sean stars in a spot for the Palace Guard campaign. In addition, Los Angeles rapper Nipsey Hussle modeled the sneakers in still photos. Puma Hoops athletes will debut the footwear on basketball courts in cities around the country.
Raptors guard Danny Green wore both sneakers before and during the Toronto Raptors versus Detroit Pistons game this week. Detroit legends will also wear the shoes at activations as a way to showcase the bridge between the past and the present.
The OG Palace Guard and Uproar Palace Guard will be available for purchase on March 8. Check out images of the items below.
