(AllHipHop News) Fans of the animated program The Boondocks have been waiting for season four of the show for four years. As Huey, Riley, Granddad, and the rest of the characters get set to return to the small screen on April 21st, Boondocks creator Aaron McGruder has also teamed with Adult Swim for a brand new series.
Adult Swim announced that McGruder's live-action comedy Black Jesus has been greenlit. The show will star Gerald "Slink" Johnson as Black Jesus. The Boondocks regulars Charlie Murphy and John Witherspoon are also part of the cast. The Cleveland Show's Corey Holcomb has signed on as well.
Production for Black Jesus has already begun in Los Angeles, California. The show is scheduled to debut later this year.
McGruder previously tackled the topic of Jesus being black on The Boondocks episode "A Huey Freeman Christmas." Watch a clip from "A Huey Freeman Christmas" below.
