(AllHipHop News) Many industry prognosticators predicted Cardi B's "Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)" would reach #1 on the Hot 100 chart. Billboard announced the smash single was able to hit the pole position this week.
Cardi becomes the second female rapper to lead the Hot 100 without any other credited artists on the track. Lauryn Hill reached #1 with "Doo Wop (That Thing)" in November 1998.
The Bronx rapstress is also just the fifth female rapper to score a chart-topper on the Hot 100. Besides Cardi and Hill, Lil Kim ("Lady Marmalade" with Christina Aguilera, Mya, and Pink in 2001), Shawnna (Ludacris' "Stand Up" in 2003), and Iggy Azalea ("Fancy" featuring Charli XCX in 2014) are the only other female rap stars to hit the top spot.
In addition, Post Malone collected his second career Top 10 hit as "Rockstar" featuring 21 Savage debuts at #2. "1-800-273-8255," Logic's collaboration with Alessia Cara and Khalid slips to #4.
"Unforgettable" by French Montana and Swae Lee rebounds to #6. Yo Gotti and Nicki Minaj's "Rake It Up" rises from #16 to #8.
Cardi B responded to the news about "Bodak Yellow" becoming the #1 song in the country. She wrote on Instagram:
