(AllHipHop News) In just her second year as a mainstream music artist, Cardi B continues to break records. The native New Yorker is now in first place when it comes to female rappers with the most weeks at #1 on the Hot 100 chart.
Maroon 5 and Cardi's "Girls Like You" spent a fourth week in the pole position, giving the 26-year-old rapstress 8 cumulative weeks at #1. She passed Iggy Azalea's previous record of 7 weeks.
Besides "Girls Like You," Cardi reached the top spot with "Bodak Yellow" (3 weeks) and "I Like It" with Bad Bunny and J Balvin (1 week). The Invasion of Privacy album creator is the first female rapper to have three Number One records.
Last year, Cardi became the first solo female rapper to hit #1 on the Hot 100 chart since Lauryn Hill in 1998. She was also the first female rapper to have more than one Hot 100 chart topper. Cardi achieved that milestone when "I Like It" climbed to the summit in July.
In addition, the former Love & Hip Hop cast member passed Beyoncé in April for the most simultaneous entries on the Hot 100 chart by a solo female act. In January, Cardi B joined Beyoncé as the only women to have four songs in the Top 10 of the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart at the same time.
