(AllHipHop News) Belcalis “Cardi B” Almanzar is up for two Grammy awards at the 60th annual ceremony on January 28, 2018. The Bronx rhymer’s “Bodak Yellow” is competing for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song.
That latter category had some people questioning if Cardi really wrote the record, because the credited songwriters were listed as Dieuson Octave, Klenord Raphael, Shaftizm, Jordan Thorpe, J White, and Washpoppin. The latest "ghostwriting" allegations were the result of the names Cardi B nor Belcalis Almanzar appearing in the category.
However, a Grammy representative informed Billboard that Cardi/Almanzar is actually nominated under the name Washpoppin. She also released a song titled “Washpoppin” off her Gangsta Bitch Music Vol. 1 mixtape.
Further proof that Cardi B is earning credit as a songwriter for her work is the fact that the 25-year-old cover girl signed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV. In October, she stated, “I’m so happy to be with my new family Sony/ATV. ‘Bodak Yellow’ is only the beginning and we’re just getting started.”
