(AllHipHop News) There has been some infighting among Democratic politicians in recent days over immigration policy. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and moderate Dems were on one side. Liberal U.S. Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota (aka The Squad) were on the other side.
Republican Donald Trump then jumped into the fray with a series of tweets that were quickly denounced as racist and xenophobic by numerous public figures. The President called on the progressive women of color to "go back" to their original countries. Ocasio-Cortez, Pressley, and Tlaib were born in the United States. All four women are American citizens.
Self-described political junkie Cardi B has also appeared to weigh in on the latest drama coming out of Washington. The "Press" rapper posted a photoshopped Rolling Stone cover featuring AOC, Omar, and Representative Jahana Hayes of Connecticut to her Instagram Story. However, Speaker Pelosi was cropped out of the original image and replaced with Democratic presidential candidate/Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard.
Cardi has been open about her appreciation for democratic socialist Bernie Sanders, the Independent Vermont Senator who is also currently running in the Democratic primary for a chance to face-off against Trump in the 2020 election. Sanders has publicly endorsed the Bronx-born entertainer's message on the importance of Social Security. In addition, Cardi B recently expressed that she would like to see all presidential hopefuls directly address the issue of police brutality.
