Cardi B Reacts To Winning Billboard’s Woman Of The Year Award & Returns To Twitter

The ‘Invasion of Privacy’ album creator has some words for her haters.

Belcalis “Cardi B” Almánzar is adding another award to her mantle. Billboard named the Bronx-raised hitmaker as the magazine’s Woman of the Year for 2020. The honor is presented to an act whose music, performances, cultural influence, and activism defined the year.

Singer/director Teyana Taylor will host the 15th Annual Women in Music Event which will stream live on December 10. Jennifer Lopez (Icon Award), Dua Lipa (Powerhouse Award), Chloe x Halle (Rising Star Award), Dolly Parton (Hitmaker Award), and Jessie Reyez (American Express Impact Award) are being recognized as well.

“Thank you Billboard! Now I can bring up the stats but that will take me all day. B#### broke records! Thank you BARDIGANG [without] y’all encouraging while the world was against me and criticizing every move I wouldn’t have gotten here [every day] and use my voice for a change,” wrote Cardi on Instagram.

That IG caption accompanied a video where the Grammy Award, BET Award, and People’s Choice Award winner shared some words for any critics that had a problem with Billboard naming her as Woman of the Year. She pointed out the record-breaking “WAP” featuring Megan Thee Stallion was a huge global hit.

Cardi also mentioned how influential she has been in politics throughout her career. Last year, she sat down with then-presidential candidate Senator Bernie Sanders to discuss police brutality, healthcare, and more. This year saw Cardi interviewing future POTUS Joe Biden.

In addition, Cardi B made her return to Twitter yesterday afternoon. She took a break from the app after facing criticism from some of her own fans for reconciling with her husband Offset. Cardi filed for divorce in September before withdrawing the petition to end their marriage.
