(AllHiphop News) Cue Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy". Yesterday (September 1st), Cee Lo Green apologized for comments on the definition of "rape" on his personal Twitter account and subsequently deleted them.
On October 20th, 2013 Cee Lo Green pled not guilty to supplying a woman with ecstasy during a 2012 dinner. The prosecution did not file rape chargers due to insufficient evidence even though the victim claims to having no recollection of spending the night with Cee Lo Green yet waking up in his bed the day after. Cee Lo Green pled no contest to charges of supplying a woman with ecstasy last Friday (August 29th) after Green's lawyer argued he and the alleged victim had "consensual relations". Green was sentenced to three years probation with 45 days of community service.
Two days after his plea deal, Green decided to educate his millions of Twitter followers on what constitutes "rape". While responding to a user on Twitter, Green argued that the lack of evidence of a rape and the fact the victim was has a lack of memory of the events means a rape did not occur:
Another tweet from Cee Lo read "People who have really been raped REMEMBER!!!" All of the controversial tweets were deleted. The apology read:
Let me 1st praise god for exoneration fairness & freedom! Secondly I sincerely apologize for my comments being taken so far out of context.”
I only intended on a healthy exchange to help heal those who love me from the pain I had already caused from this. Please forgive me as it
was your support that got me thru this to begin with. I’d never condone the harm of any women. Thank you.
The tweets, and his account were later deleted. Green's account, sans the apology is still public.
