(AllHipHop News) CeeLo Green is replying to the backlash he faced after defending OutKast member Big Boi's appearance in Super Bowl LIII.
Maroon 5 was the headlining act of the Halftime Show, with appearances by Travis Scott, and Big Boi on Sunday night.
CeeLo Green shocked everyone when he tweeted on Sunday, "[Big Boi] yo big we riding wit you fam DO THAT S##T! F##k these so called protesters you just got [$100 million] worth of press. I’ll kill for you."
CeeLo was immediately called out for making light of the many political issues brought up in light of Colin Kaepernick's #TakeAKnee campaign to protest police brutality and racism.
The "F##k You" hitmaker backtracked in an attempt to explain why he would tweet such a harsh rebuke of the protests, which have been co-signed by Common, Jay-Z, Rihanna, Cardi B, T.I. and numerous others.
"I'd like to address what has become a large misunderstanding and I hope that you will receive this post as clarity, closure, and, most important, an apology," CeeLo said. "I posted yesterday, excited in the heat of the moment and spirit of triumph in support of my fellow Atlantan, teammate and brother @bigboi. My post was speaking exclusively to him and about those who were opposed to him performing. I would NEVER disrespect or devalue the stance or the severity of why it has been a call to arms as far as our living situation here in America. I am well aware, I fully support, and I stand with all of my extended family around the world. Once again, I sincerely apologize to those I have offended and hope this helps clarify my intentions. CeeLo Green"
