Chance the Rapper Treats Chicago Fans To A Screening Of "Marshall"

Chance the Rapper invited his fans to see the movie "Marshall" and paid for all their tickets too.

(AllHipHop News) Chane the Rapper invited fans in his native Chicago, Illinois to watch the new movie "Marshall" for free on Friday by buying out all the tickets at two local theaters.

The "No Problem" hitmaker has thrown his support behind the biopic, which stars "Captain America: Civil War" actor Chadwick Boseman as U.S. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, and is encouraging his fellow city residents to check out the film on him on its opening day.

Chance shared the news of the free screenings via social media when he uploaded a note which read: "I bought all the tickets all day to go see Marshall at the movie theater on 87th and the one on Roosevelt. Go see Marshall today for free. Come to the one at 3. It's lit (fun)."

The MC captioned the post, "CHANCE THE RAPPER PRESS RELEASE* #MarshallMovie", and then joked in his note, "I don't usually write my own press releases."

Marshall focuses on a career-defining case in Thurgood's early days as a young lawyer, before World War Two, when he was sent to Connecticut to defend a black chauffeur against his wealthy white female employer's allegations of sexual assault and attempted murder.

Together with inexperienced Jewish lawyer Samuel Friedman, he fought against racial prejudice to uncover the truth in a trial which became tabloid fodder and helped to pave the way for the Civil Rights Movement years later.

Marshall went on to become the first African-American judge appointed to the Supreme Court in 1967.

He died in 1993.

It's not the first time Chance has given the people of Chicago the chance to watch a film for free - back in February, he helped to promote comedian Jordan Peele's critically-acclaimed horror movie Get Out by staging a similar stunt.
