Charlamagne The God Lawyers Up As Rape Accuser Goes Public With More Allegations

Charlamagne has hired a high powered attorney to protect his rep.

(AllHipHop News) Popular media personality Charlamagne Tha God has lawyered up to fight off claims he sexually assaulted a 15-year-old back in 2001.

The co-host of the nationally syndicated "Breakfast Club" radio show could be prosecuted again over allegations he raped a 15-year-old.

Charlamagne is the subject of accusations by a woman named Jessica Reid, who maintains he raped her during a party.

He was arrested and charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the 2nd degree,

Charlamagne eventually took a DNA test, which cleared him of more serious charges. And because the young woman was uncooperative, Charlamagne pled guilty to a lesser charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

He was eventually sentenced to serve three years of probation.

Now, 16 years after the case has been closed, Jessica Reid and her mother are coming for Charlamagne and hoping to press much more serious criminal charges against him this time around.

In South Carolina, there is no statute of limitation for prosecuting the crime of sex with a minor.

"More than seventeen years ago, Charlamagne was accused of a sexual assault. He never had sexual relations or any physical contact with the accuser and even provided DNA to prove it," Marty Singer said in a statement.

"At the time of these claims, Charlamagne cooperated fully with authorities, and after the investigation, this charge against him was dropped."

"Charlamagne has spoken about this many times over the years in public, including in his book. While Charlamagne has empathy for all sexual assault victims, he cannot take responsibility for a crime he did not commit.”

Meanwhile, Jessica Reid has doubled down on her claims in a new exclusive interview with HollywoodLife.com.

“He took my clothes off and then he had sex with me, but that’s not all he did. He actually had oral sex with me, as well. And then he left the room and I’m just lying there in the room," Jessica Reid told the website.

Charlamagne is also the subject of a new petition calling for his firing from "The Breakfast Club," Power 105.1 and the station's parent company, iHeartMedia.
