(AllHipHop News) Will it ever really happen? Fans of Childish Gambino and Chance The Rapper have been promised a joint project from the two Hip Hop artists for years.

In January, Chance had his followers hoping the collaboration was close to coming to fruition when he posted a photo with Gambino on Instagram. The caption for the pic read, "Hawaii then LA, back to work."

The following month Gambino (aka Donald Glover) did an interview with Real 92.3 where he said, "[Chance and I] actually sat down in the studio and were talking for a little bit. We’re both busy, but I think when he has a moment, we’ve been sitting down working together. I think it’s about catching a vibe.”

Last night, Glover again suggested the tandem would connect for a body of work. The topic came up backstage at the 2017 Emmys, and the award-winning director/actor spoke about the possibility of teaming with Chance for music.

"I don't ever want to do anything because I'm forced to. I think once you do that, things start to get bad and you jump the shark," said the Atlanta native. "Also, I feel like if I don't make a Chance the Rapper double mixtape a bunch of 14-year-olds are gonna kick my ass. They stop me on the street. It kind of scares me. So I feel like I gotta do something. I probably will."
