(AllHipHop News) Unfortunately, a Hip Hop artist wasn’t able to take home the big prize of Grammy night - Album Of The Year. That honor went to Golden Hour by Kacey Musgraves, but artists from the culture did cement their names in the history books.
Donald “Childish Gambino” Glover was one of the big winners. The Atlanta creator's “This Is America” became the first rap song to win Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year.
Young Thug’s songwriting credit on the track earned him a history-making “Song Of The Year” Grammy as well. Gambino’s “This Is America” also won Best Music Video and Best Rap/Sung Performance.
Cardi B’s Invasion Of Privacy triumphed in the Best Rap Album category. She is the first solo female rapper to win that particular award after Lauryn Hill won it in 1997 for The Score as a member of The Fugees.
Jay-Z added another golden gramophone to his collection. His collaborative project Everything Is Love with Beyoncé was named Best Urban Contemporary Album. The Roc Nation boss now has 22 career Grammy wins, making him the most awarded rap artist of all time.
Other winners at last night’s ceremony included Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, Future, Anderson .Paak, H.E.R., Ella Mai, and Pharrell Williams. To see the full list of winners visit grammy.com.
