(AllHipHop News) A small seaside town in the United Kingdom could soon be one of the hottest tourist spots in the world, thanks to the late rap star Eazy-E.
The city of Newhaven, East Sussex recently unveiled a bench honoring the Ruthless Records founder.
The idea to honor Eazy-E started off as a joke, when a resident of the city named Guy Stevens attended a council meeting and requested for a statue of Eazy-E to be built next to a monument honoring Ho Chi Minh.
Newhaven Mayor Graham Amy admitted said was a little shocked by the request, since she had never even heard of gangster rap.
Eventually, Stevens downgraded his request for a statue in favor of the park bench honoring Eazy, who passed away from AIDS at the age of 30 in 1996.
Donations have come in from all over the world, as the town braces for an influx of tourists to their sleepy little town.
In fact, Guy Stevens said the campaign has been so successful his next goal is to rename the entire city in honor of Eazy-E.
"I'd like to see more benches dedicated to 2Pac and Biggie in neighbouring towns or even here in Newhaven," Stevens said. "Or even rename Newhaven Newcompton."
