Comedian Russell Peters Producing Documentary On Legendary D&D Studios

DJ Premier

Damn near everyone in hip-hop passed through the doors of the legendary D&D Studios, and now a documentary will be released to tell the story of the legendary recording facility.

If the walls of the legendary D&D Studios could talk … bruh … just imagine the stories that we might hear.

D&D is considered the Mecca of studios for some of your favorite rappers. So many rappers took the trek to the tiny recording oasis in Manhattan to get the dingiest, grimiest but most beloved tracks ever.

David Lotwin, a co-founder of the studio responsible for hit songs from DJ Premier and KRS-One, has linked up with comedian Russell Peters to produce a documentary about the institution.

While interviewing on the Breaking Atoms Podcast, Lotwin spoke about Peters really stepping in and pushing him to get it done, adding that the funnyman is a true lover of the culture.

He also added that he was a generous person that has looked out for others “on the low.”

Sure people know that Preem has made D&D his recording home over the 30+ years of his career, but many would be shocked to hear that the roster of performers expanded to the rugged terrain of Jamaica Queens with the Lost Boyz to the mountainous landscape of Jamaica in the Caribbean with Peter Tosh.

Check out more about this doc and Lotwin’s journey to being such an integral part of the fabric of Hip-Hop.
