Common Wins Emmy Award For “A Letter to the Free”

Common and Ava Duvernay to it again! Common has won and Emmy Award, all in Hip-Hop's name!

“A Letter to the Free,” Common’s song from 13th, has won the rapper his first Emmy Award Saturday night.

The documentary is Ava DuVernay’s award-winning film that focuses on the systemic injustices that occur down very uniquely racial lines. Common shares his win with singer Bilal, Robert Glasper and Karriem Riggins .

The honor puts the Chicago rapper in a very unique space, to pushing towards EGOT status. Those that win Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony are rare and considered extraordinary entertainers.

Common is moving forward in his career, according to VIBE.

“Yes, it’s on my mind..(EGOT) would be a blessing,” Common stated.“I wanted to go to Broadway before I won any awards; I would love to do theater.

Also the rapper/actor "answered" the rumors of dating political analyst Angela Rye, who was his date to the Emmy event.
