(AllHipHop News) Thousands of people signed a petition requesting Los Angeles City Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson name the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and West Slauson Avenue after Ermias “Nipsey Hussle” Asghedom. Harris-Dawson announced the honor will happen.
“Ermias Asghedom, known as ‘Nipsey Hussle,’ was an icon and West Coast hero,” said Harris-Dawson in a statement. “Nipsey’s genuine nature allowed him to be a light to everyone he interacted with, from family, friends, fans and his larger community."
He added, "As a father, brother and son, Nipsey was a rock helping to build an empire that will continue through generations. Nipsey will always be remembered for delivering a pure, authentic Los Angeles sound; his numerous philanthropic efforts; his innovative, community-focused business mindset; and his humble heart.”
On March 31, Hussle was killed outside his Marathon Clothing store which is located at Crenshaw/Slauson. In connection to the homicide, a Los Angeles resident named Eric Holder was charged with one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon.
Tomorrow (April 11), family, friends, and fans of Nipsey Hussle will gather together in the Staples Center for a memorial service. A 25-mile funeral procession is expected to pass by the Marathon establishment later that day.
