(AllHipHop News) Comedian Dave Chappelle received a hero's welcome when he returned to his alma mater, the Duke Ellington School of the Arts.
Chappelle graduated from Duke Ellington in 1991 and he paid a visit to the school earlier this week, where he received the key to the city of Washington DC.
Mayor Muriel Bowser was on hand to give Chappelle the key to DC and to praise the comedian's role in championing education.
“Some very special native Washingtonians have dedicated their lives to making Washington, DC better, and they’ve gone above and beyond to show others what makes the nation’s capital the best city in the world,” Mayor Muriel Bowser said . “Dave Chappelle reminds us what it means to live a life filled with purpose, meaning, and laughter.”
The news comes on the heels of Dave Chappelle's high-profile shout out to the Washington DC school system during this year's Emmy Awards.
