Lyricist Lounge and Image Entertainment will
present the "Dirty States of America," a documentary of Southern Hip-Hop,
accompanied by a soundtrack of the same name.
The film examines several different styles of
Hip-Hop, including Crunk, Bounce, Booty and the innovative Screwed style.
Scarface, David Banner, 8Ball, Goodie Mob, Lil
Jon, Petey Pablo, Trick Daddy and others are featured to help tell the story
of the rise of the South in Hip-Hop music.
The film examines the music's connection with
slavery, the Civil Rights Movement, poverty and oppression.
The producers of the documentary interviewed
over 100 people and combed through over 150 hours of behind-the-scenes footage
to give viewers a very intimate look at the Southern rap scene.
The Dirty States of America soundtrack
will feature new and unreleased material by Willie D. of the Geto Boys, Killer
Mike, BG, JT Money, Devin tha Dude, ESG and Slim Thug and Port Arthur, Texas
The documentary is slated to hit stores this
summer and will be supported by "The Dirty States of America" tour.
