(AlHipHop News) Three 6 Mafia star DJ Paul is suing rapper Travis Scott for $20 million over allegations of copyright infringement. "The Sicko Mode" hitmaker stands accused of stealing the hook for "No Bystanders," from his latest album Astroworld, from the hip-hop group’s tune "Tear Da Club Up."
In court papers DJ Paul insists Scott’s refrain, in which he chants, “F##k da club up/F##k da club up,” is almost identical to the one featured on Three 6 Mafia’s 1995 release, on which they repeat, “Tear da club up/Tear da club up.
The veteran star, real name Paul Beauregard, goes on to claim Scott actually used the band’s exact hook during his performance at the Grammy Awards ceremony earlier this year – all without Three 6 Mafia’s permission.
He is demanding damages for the alleged infringement, and estimates the sum should be in excess of $20 million. Scott has yet to respond to the accusations.
