DMX Enters Rehab After Atlanta Show Falls Through

DMX is heading into rehab after running into tax problems, and substance abuse issues.

(AllHipHop News) Rapper DMX's home confinement has been lifted so he can check into a rehab facility.

The “X Gon' Give It to Ya” star was placed under house arrest and made to wear an ankle bracelet earlier this month for violating his bail conditions when he failed drug tests and left the New York area without notifying his probation officer.

His lawyer Murray Richman asked a judge to let DMX, real name Earl Simmons, travel to various cities across the U.S. so he could continue to fulfill work commitments despite the house arrest.

He was granted permission to shoot a movie in Atlanta, Georgia this week as long as he was supervised by a sober coach at all times.

However, the Atlanta job reportedly fell through and the 46-year-old decided to enter an inpatient program for substance abuse.

"This is a voluntary move on his part," Richman told the New York Daily News.

Officials at pre-trial services, who look after DMX while he's on bail, also approved the move and prosecutors didn't oppose it, so Manhattan Federal Judge Jed Rakoff signed off on the rapper entering the program in an order issued on Tuesday.

The “Party Up (In Here)” hitmaker has been in rehab a number of times, most recently in April. At the time, his manager Pat Gallo told TMZ, "It is important right now that he take some time off to focus on his health so that he can be a better father, friend and entertainer."

DMX is currently on bail after pleading not guilty to 14 federal counts of tax evasion.
