Donald Glover To Produce Marvel's Animated 'Deadpool' Series For FXX
The award-winning entertainer is already involved in doing stand-up comedy, making music, starring in the upcoming Han Solo movie, voicing Simba in a The Lion King remake, and creating the well-received television show Atlanta.
In addition, Glover is set to appear in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.
THR reports the rapper also known as Childish Gambino and his brother Stephen Glover will lead an animated adult action-comedy version of Marvel Comic’s Deadpool as well.
The Glovers will write, executive produce, and serve as showrunners for the upcoming FXX series.
“Donald Glover is an incredibly gifted and versatile artist who’ll bring the untitled Marvel’s Deadpoolseries to life with the same intense, singular vision as his breakout hit Atlanta,” stated Nick Grad, the FX president of original programming.
Previously, Donald and Stephen worked together on Atlanta with the brothers writing various episodes of the comedy-drama.
The show took home honors at the Golden Globe Awards, Critics’ Choice Television Awards, NAACP Image Awards, Peabody Awards, and Writers Guild of America Awards.
Ten episodes of the Deadpool FXX series are set to premiere in 2018.
The live action film version of Deadpool made over $780 million at the worldwide box office, becoming the highest-grossing R-Rated movie in history.
