Drake, Cardi B & 'Black Panther’ Earn 2019 Album Of The Year Grammy Nods

Will a rap star walk away with the Academy’s greatest honor for the first time since 2004?

(AllHipHop News) Today (December 7), the Recording Academy announced the nominations for the 61st Annual Grammy Awards. Several rap artists were recognized in the award show’s biggest category - Album Of The Year.

Drake’s Scorpion, Cardi B’s Invasion of Privacy, and Kendrick Lamar’s Black Panther: The Album picked up AOTY nods. Only two Hip Hop albums - Lauryn Hill’s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill (1999) and OutKast’s Speakerboxxx/The Love Below (2004) - have won the Grammy for Album Of The Year.

The other projects competing for AOTY are Post Malone’s beerbongs & bentleys, Janelle Monáe’s Dirty Computer, H.E.R.'S H.E.R., Kacey Musgraves’ Golden Hour, and Brandi Carlile's By the Way, I Forgive You. 24K Magic by Bruno Mars was the most recent Album Of The Year winner.

The 61st Annual Grammy Awards is scheduled for February 10 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The ceremony will air on CBS.
