(AllHipHop News) One of America’s most notorious drug lords, Frank Lucas, has passed away at the age of 88 years old.
The man who was played by Denzel Washington in the 2007 classic film American Gangster leaves behind 7 children.
On Thursday (May 30th), Frank’s nephew Aldwan Lassiter claims he passed away in his New Jersey home.
According to his former lawyer, Frank had been declining in health. He was transported to a hospital for an unknown health issue and died en route.
The North Carolina native rose to power in Harlem in the 1960’s and 70’s, primarily with his heroin drug trade.
He bragged about cutting out the middlemen and buying his dope directly from Southeast Asia, and smuggling them into the States using the coffins of deceased US servicemen.
Frank’s career was met with several federal and state drug violations, including a 70-year sentence to prison.
Eventually, he snitched on others in the drug business as he and his family entered a witness protection program.
He spent five years in custody only to be busted again, spending another seven years in prison. He was released in 1991.
