(AllHipHop News) Eminem took the stage late Saturday night at Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, Toronto.

While festival-goers were eager to see Marshall Mathers perform in real life, they were not prepared for the fake gunshots to come.

The Detroit rapper used realistic gunshot sounds effects towards the end of his performance on the What Stage, with three separate blasts ringing out during his set.

These sounds alarmed many who were in attendance, who thought they were actually being fired off on-site.

This comes in light of the recent mass shootings and sparked a major controversy and debate on social media, whether or not the placement of these fake gunshots were appropriate.

One Twitter user defends Em, stating, “Eminem has ended Kill You with the  gun shot effects for (at least) 6 years now and this is the first time someone ever complains.”

Regardless, this is the first Bonnaroo since the Route 91 shooting, which resulted in 58 deaths.

Organizers of the festival have implemented new safety measures, including metal detectors upon entry.
