'Empire' Cast Members Reportedly Push For Jussie Smollett's Return To The Show

Do you want to see the actor/musician back on the drama series?

(AllHipHop News) Last month, Taraji P. Henson, Terrence Howard, Bryshere Y. Gray, and other members of the Empire cast called on Fox to bring Jussie Smollett back for the show's sixth season. However, that support did not stop the network from publicly suggesting the actor was unlikely to return to the show.

A new article from TMZ claims the cast is still fighting to have Smollett's character be part of Empire. The 36-year-old's co-stars reportedly began contacting executives connected to the program in order to lobby for Jussie.

TMZ reports:

As for why ... we're told the cast feels Jussie's character was an incredibly important part of the show, and they don't feel his return will hurt ratings. In one of the final episodes of season 5, Jussie's character, Jamal, got married in the first gay, black wedding on primetime TV.

Earlier this year, Smollett was indicted on 16 felony counts for filing a false police report after Chicago authorities arrested him for allegedly lying about being a victim of an anti-gay, anti-black hate crime. The charges were later dropped. Smollett still stands by his initial claim that he was really attacked by two men in January.
