(AllHipHop News) Common’s forthcoming album is full of gems.

The new music is inspired by his most recent memoir, "Let Love Have the Last Word" and sees the Chicago MC covering all of the topics we go through as humans, from racism to love to faith to fatherhood.

"Let Love Have the Last Word" also sees him in his most vulnerable state, touching on his experience being molested as a kid.

With the project arriving sometime in August, the 47-year-old hosted listening sessions in New York and Los Angeles, where select media, friends, and family were invited and give feedback on the records.

It was soon revealed he had standout features from BJ The Chicago Kid, Daniel Caesar, Leikeli47, and a rare J Dilla beat.

On Monday, June 10th, Common hosted a screening & conversation for the visual of the project’s lead single, “HER Love.”

The record actually serves as a follow-up to his timeless hit “Used To Love H.E.R.” Similar to the original which turns 25 today, the new record is an ode to females and the hip-hop game.

“HER Love” features a standout hook from Daniel Caesar and production from J. Dilla.

The two were actually roommates at one point, and Common discussed how he didn’t feel comfortable rapping over a Dilla beat without his blessing.

But once he heard the song, he knew he had to snap.

The video is directed by Savanah Leaf, who completely brought his vision to life. It showcased Black excellence in the most powerful way, with imagery of women, men, couples, and Common spitting his verses.

Savanah Leaf is a UK-born director who has shot for the likes of Gary Clark Jr. and jazz musicians.

The record also sees Common namedropping every lit rapper in the game, from Cardi B to Gucci Mane to Nipsey Hussle.

During the conversation, Common brought up how much Nipsey did for the community, and being “saddened the more he found out” about him. It made him want to do more himself.
