(AllHipHop News) Rap star Lil Wayne was expected to give a spirited performance during his appearance at Rolling Loud over the weekend, but he was forced to cancel his headlining set.
Organizers of Rolling Loud reached out to AllHipHop.com to explain what happened after thousands of fans expressed their disappointment with Wayne's last-minute cancellation with a chorus of boos.
"Last night, Lil Wayne fell unexpectedly ill ahead of his set time and had to cancel his appearance at Rolling Loud Miami," organizers told AllHipHop.com in a statement today (May 14).
"We apologize to the fans and hope that some of the special guest appearances throughout the weekend, such as Meek Mill, Nicki Minaj, Diddy, A$AP Rocky, hometown hero DJ Khaled, the Waffle House Hero, and the two baristas fired by Duke made for an enjoyable experience," the statement continued.
"We have a longstanding and healthy partnership with Lil Wayne and his team, and look forward to continuing to work with him and having him on a Rolling Loud stage in the near future," organizers for Rolling Loud told AllHipHop.com.
The illness which afflicted Lil Wayne is not known as of press time. But the rapper is an epileptic who has had to pull out of high profile gigs in the past, after suffering from seizures.
