Legal challenges have forced Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane to drop a highly anticipated performance at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) next weekend.

The controversial rapper was slated to headline the “Gucci Mane and Friends” concert, during FAMU’s homecoming on October 24.

According to sources, Gucci Mane was not allowed to travel to the concert due to the conditions of his house arrest.

He will appear in court next Monday (October 26) to answer allegations that he violated the terms of his probation.

Gucci Mane will be replaced by Plies, who is featured on a new track with Gucci titled “Wasted.”

They performed the track during the taping for The 2009 BET Hip-Hop Awards.

During the taping, host and comedian Mike Epps made continual references to Gucci Mane, joking that the rapper war a diamond studded ankle monitor.

Other performers on the bill for FAMU’s homecoming concert include Lil Webbie, Hurricane Chris, Ice Berg and Midget Mack from VH1’s reality show I Love New York.

Some students that attend FAMU voiced their dissatisfaction with Gucci Mane headlining the concert prior to the legal setback, which is preventing him from attending.

A meeting will take place tomorrow at 7:00 PM between FAMU students and alumni, to discuss future concerts and its participants.

The news comes as Gucci is scheduled to travel to Greensboro, North Carolina this weekend, where he will give a performance at North Carolina A&T University.

Last week, A&T officially dropped all backing for an upcoming homecoming concert featuring Gucci Mane after students protested his appearance.
