(AllHipHop News) On her new album, Nicki Minaj forcefully declared she is still the reigning Queen of Rap. The Barbz’s superstar status is cemented, but Nicki may no longer be the ruler of the sales.
According to HDD, Minaj’s Queen is currently expected to move between 135,000 - 150,000 sales plus streaming units in its first week of release. That would give the Young Money rapper the lowest debut-week albums sales of her near-decade career.
The Pinkprint opened at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart in 2014 with 244,000 album-equivalent units. Prior to that, both 2010’s Pink Friday (375,000 copies) and 2012’s Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded (253,000 copies) hit #1.
Queen hosts the singles “Chun-Li,” “Rich Sex,” and “Bed.” Only “Chun-Li” has managed to break into the Top 10 of the Hot 100. The song reached its peak of #10 in April.
