(AllHipHop News) It looks like yet another Hip Hop project will top the album chart in 2018. The posthumous XXXTentacion album titled Skins is projected to open at #1.
According to HitsDailyDouble,Skins is on pace to pull in 150,000 - 160,000 units in its first week of release. This would give XXX his second chart-topper in 2018, a rare accomplishment for a rap artist.
Snoop Doggy Dogg was technically the first rapper to achieve the milestone when Doggystyle and Murder Was The Case Soundtrack both hit #1 in 1994. However, Murder is not officially credited as a Snoop Dogg entry.
2Pac's All Eyez on Me reached #1 in March of 1996. His The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory (released under the name Makaveli) claimed the top spot later that year, two months after Pac was murdered.
DMX released the No. 1 LPs It's Dark and Hell Is Hot and Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood in 1998. Flesh of My Flesh did not reach the pinnacle of the Billboard 200 until the chart dated January 9, 1999.
Eminem's 2002 releases The Eminem Show and the 8 Mile soundtrack went to Number One, but the latter is not a solo studio album. In 2004, Jay-Z scored #1s as the joint projects Unfinished Business with R. Kelly and Collision Course with Linkin Park ruled the chart for one week, respectively.
Drake's If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late as well as his Future collaborative mixtape What a Time to Be Alive both topped the Billboard 200 in 2015. Two years later, Future earned back-to-back chart leaders with Future and Hndrxx.
