The eclectic singer opened up about his sense of style, and the influence Joan Rivers plays in his career.

(AllHipHop News) Frank Ocean's "unapologetic" style was inspired by the late Joan Rivers.

The "Swim Good" singer opened up about his unique sense of fashion in a cover interview for W Magazine's The New Originals issue, and credited the comedian for empowering him to find a style that represents him.

“Rest in Peace. My legend…" he said of the former Fashion Police star. "She was Sick! I mean, unapologetic."

Reflecting on her influence on his sartorial choices, he added: "I think that ‘F##k who sees me’ energy, ‘This is what I am giving. Period’ is what I relate to in ballroom culture – it’s this extroversion manifest.”

Ballroom culture is an underground LGBT subculture that originated in the U.S.

Young members of the African-American and Latin American communities would dance, walk and pose in events known as "balls" to compete for trophies and prizes.

Frank, 31, also opened up about his musical origins in the interview, and claimed he felt "no attachment" to it - but was rather looking forward to the potential financial gain.

"(I felt) more an attachment to what music could bring if I succeeded, you know financially," he shared. "And that meant freedom from my situation at the time, and maybe what I was projecting onto my own future.
