French Montana Reacts To Backlash Over His "Legacy" Comments About R. Kelly

The 'Surviving R. Kelly' docuseries is still causing conversations in the industry.

(AllHipHop News) French Montana had to walk back some comments he made about R. Kelly. TMZ caught up with Bad Boy artist and asked him if he still listens to Kelly's music.

With the decades-long accusations of having sex with underage girls leveled at Kelly becoming a trending topic again, many former fans are calling on the public to #MuteRKelly. However, French Montana appeared to defend the R&B singer.

"They don’t let nobody have their legendary moments,” Montana told the cameraman. “I feel like they did Michael Jackson like that. They did R. Kelly like that. All the greats went down like that. Let somebody enjoy their legacy. Whatever happened, happened. He fought in the court of law and won."

Those comments about R. Kelly's "legacy" were met with backlash online. French was forced to walk back his statement with a tweet on Sunday.

"Let me be clear. My heart is with the victims. I never thought the people I looked up to as a kid, who sang and danced and gave me hope to become a superstar would become drug addicts, child [molesters] and rapists. I am hoping we as a culture create better leaders. We need them," tweeted Montana.
