(AllHipHop News) Founding Fugees member Pras Michel was recently charged with conspiracy, issuing a false statement, along with two counts of falsifying records.

The 46-year-old rapper and producer has pleaded not guilty to the four charges during his first court appearance in Washington.

The international campaign finance conspiracy case claims Michel and Jho Low, a fugitive Malaysian businessman, concealed foreign campaigns to an unidentified 2012 United States presidential candidate, who has been identified as President Barack Obama.

The total deposited into accounts Pras controlled amounted to over $21 million dollars.

CNN reports Michel has been released and is currently residing at his houses in both Florida and California before his next trial on May 16.

Barry Pollack, the attorney representing Michel, claims he is innocent concerning the charges.

He states, "Mr. Michel is extremely disappointed that so many years after the fact the government would bring charges related to 2012 campaign contributions. Mr. Michel is innocent of these charges and looks forward to having the case heard by a jury.”

A spokesperson for Mr. Low claims he is innocent as well, even though he's still on the lam as he faces charges in Malaysia for allegedly helping to launder over $1 billion out of the country with former Prime Minister Najib Razak.
