(AllHipHop News) Since Jay Z launched the sports division of Roc Nation, the legendary Hip Hop artist has signed some of the most high-profile athletes in the world to his management company. But Jay is losing one big named boxer from the roster.
ESPN reports Gary Shaw Productions is breaking from Roc Nation Sports. The two brands had barely been aligned for a month, but sources tell the network there was significant infighting at the company.
Shaw sold his GSP to Roc Nation in January and began working on its staff. Apparently, the transitioning of his clients to Roc Nation had become a difficult task, and as a result Shaw resigned from the company last week. He is set to officially break from Roc Nation Sports with all of his clients including undefeated heavyweight contender Bryant Jennings.
"We gave it a try and unfortunately it did not work out for both parties," Shaw told ESPN.com . "It is an amicable separation. Roc Nation was very professional at our meeting and they allowed me to keep all of my fighters and my company, and terminate any agreements we had together. They gave me back my company."
The loss of Jennings comes right before the 30-year-old Philadelphia native is scheduled to fight world champion Wladimir Klitschko on April 25 in New York City.
Other prize fighters leaving Roc Nation with Shaw include Darleys Perez, Tureano Johnson, Jonathan Maicelo, Kenneth Sims Jr., Francisco Santana, Roman Morales and Daniel Geale. Recently signed super middleweight Andre Ward was not part of the Gary Shaw Production acquisition and will remain at Roc Nation Sports.
