"Hamilton" Star Brandon Victor Dixon Says He Will Not Apologize To President Donald Trump Over Comments To Mike Pence
(AllHipHop News) Donald Trump will not be receiving an apology from Brandon Victor Dixon, the star of “Hamilton,” who publicly address Vice-President elect Mike Pence, during a performance of the play on Broadway on Friday (November 18).
Dixon appeared on “CBS This Morning” earlier today (November 21) and said “there was nothing to apologize for” in response to condemnation from President-Elect Donald Trump.
“On a regular basis, political figures, celebrities, people who want to come to the show, we know they’re coming, they know that it’s an option that they can come back and speak with the cast,” Dixon told “CBS In The Morning.” “They can talk to us, take pictures, so he [Mike Pence] could have absolutely done that, and if he was unaware at the time, I say to him ‘Vice-President elect Mike Pence, please, come have a conversation with us.”
Brandon Victor Dixon, who plays Aaron Burr, offered up a message to Mike Pence on behalf of the cast members of Hamilton on November 18.
“We are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights, sir,” Dixon told Mike Pence. “But we truly hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and work on behalf of all of us.”
Donald Trump took to Twitter twice over the weekend to address the cast of “Hamilton” for publicly “embarrassing” Pence and demanded the cast and the theater “apologize.”
While Donald Trump may be waiting for an apology, Mike Pence seems to be a little more thick skinned than the 45th President of The United States, who hit back at the cast on Twitter again, calling the Hip-Hop play, which won 11 Tony Awards, "overrated."
"I heard the remarks that were made at the end and, you know, I wasn't offended by what was said,” Mike Pence told CBS News.
