(AllHipHop News) According to Warner Bros Records, Lil Pump was "officially" confirmed to deliver the 2019 commencement speech at Harvard University. However, the Ivy League institution had already announced German Chancellor Angela Merkel as the commencement speaker.
The Hill reports those plans have not changed. Harvard officials told the outlet, "As previously announced, Angela Merkel will be Harvard’s Commencement 2019 speaker." It's still not clear if WBR's press release was just a publicity stunt to promote Pump's new album Harverd Dropout or if the Florida-raised rapper was actually somehow involved in Harvard's graduation ceremonies.
“You don’t gotta graduate from Harvard to do this speech. I dropped out, so they called me like they called the guy that made Windows and PCs and sh*t before I was born," said Pump in a statement. "You just need a cap and gown, which I got. When I found out, I was happy to give everyone a lesson. I’m all about the youth. Yes, they are the future. This is a preview of my speech, one word: ESSKEETIT!!!!!!”
Pump has spent years calling himself a "Harvard dropout" despite the fact the 18-year-old never attended the school. He has also been accused of trolling the public and allegedly orchestrating viral moments like a fake beef with Smokepurpp.
Harverd Dropout is currently on pace to debut with 40,000 - 45,000 first-week album units. That total is nearly identical to the 45,000 first-week units earned by Lil Pump's 2017 self-titled project. But unlike Lil Pump, the sophomore set is not expected to open in the Top 3 on the Billboard 200 chart.
