Hip Hop Songs Lead The Hot 100 Chart For 24 Consecutive Weeks

Find out which rap records monopolized 2018.

(AllHipHop News) Last week, the RIAA's mid-year report made it clear that Hip Hop artists dominated the Gold and Platinum album certifications for 2018. The culture also provided the most popular singles of the year too.

With Drake's "Nice for What" returning to the top spot on the Hot 100, a rapper has now commanded the chart for 24 straight weeks. Drizzy's two smash records - "God's Plan" (11 weeks) and "Nice for What" (8 weeks) - combined for 19 weeks at #1.

The 6-month streak also includes Childish Gambino's "This Is America" (2 weeks), Post Malone's "Psycho" featuring Ty Dolla $ign (1 week), XXXTentacion's "Sad!" (1 week), and Cardi B's "I Like It" featuring Bad Bunny & J Balvin (1 week).

Additionally, Young Thug appeared on Camila Cabello's 1-week topper "Havana." That means the #1 song in the country has included a rap star for 25 straight weeks.

The only other song to reach the pinnacle of the Hot 100 this year is Ed Sheeran's "Perfect" ballad. The duet version with Beyoncé held the pole position for three weeks in 2018 and the original version spent a single week at #1.
