(AllHipHop News) A large number of Hip Hop heads and weed heads were already side-eyeing MTV's How High 2, mainly because Method Man and Redman are not involved in the project. A huge gaffe on a Complex talk show will likely have more people questioning why the sequel was even green-lighted without the two rap legends.
"One Night" rhymer Lil Yachty and Wild 'n Out comedian DC Young Fly play the main characters in the new version. On an episode of Mostly Football, DC took part in a game where he had to name the rappers that played Silas and Jamal in the first How High film.
"Kid 'n Play," blurted out DC before realizing his mistake. "I'm high as hell! I am high as hell! They gonna kick my ass! Oh my goodness. I'm not listening."
Previously the Atlanta-raised social media influencer stated, "I'm disappointed [that Meth and Red are not in the movie]... I ain't reach out [to them]. Business is business. You just wish people were apart of it. Every day I was like, 'Is they coming? Is they gonna be here?'"
For his part, Redman addressed the making of How High 2 last year*.* The creator of the upcoming Muddy Waters Too LP discussed the fact that he and his Blackout! album partner were not brought back for the latest installment.
"Me and Meth were not aware they were doing this transaction with the movie. I'm not mad at Yachty or DC Fly. It has nothing to do with them. I'm not even upset because God always places things in the right position," stated Redman. “My thing is when you have a brand, like Red and Meth, that kind of helped built and created this entity of How High and shooting a movie on marijuana and being in college - those were all of our ideas. And when the new deal [for part two] came about, we wasn’t involved in it."
The Jesse Dylan-directed original How High hit theaters in 2001 with Redman as Jamal and Method Man as Silas. According to DC Young Fly, How High 2 is scheduled to air on April 20, 2019.
