Ice Cube Honored For Film Work

Ice Cube was recently

honored for his film work at the 6th annual Urbanworld Film Festival in the

England, where Cube's latest flick "Barbershop," premiered. Cube received

the first Minority Entertainment for the Cinematic and Creative Arts (MECCA)

award for his role in opening the door for future minority filmmakers and actors.

"It feels

good, I feel real proud," Cube told BBC news. "I am only 33, I've

got a lot to do. This is the first half of my career - I'm looking forward to

the future and I'm proud about the past."

Cube echoed a sentiment

familiar to other minority filmmakers regarding the lack of funding. "Right

now we're dealing with low expectations so also low budgets," he said.

"Hopefully that will change in the future."
