Ice Cube To Star In MTV Studios' Reboot Of ‘Celebrity Deathmatch’

(AllHipHop News) MTV has been in the business of recreating some of the network's classic programs from the past. First, it wasFear Factor and TRL, and now it's Celebrity Deathmatch.

Deadline reports Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Ice Cube is attached to star in and executive produce the stop-motion animated series. Creators of the rebooted Celebrity Deathmatch are looking to shop the show to premium and streaming networks in 2019.

“Happy to once again be working with Viacom and MTV on a fan favorite like Celebrity Deathmatch and to continue our success together,” said Ice Cube. The N.W.A member also produced Hip Hop Squares which aired on the Viacom-owned channels MTV2 and VH1.

The original Celebrity Deathmatch ran on MTV from 1998 to 2002. It was revived in 2006 and 2007 on MTV2. Viewers got to see claymation celebs like Ice Cube, Ice-T, Eminem, Mariah Carey, Puff Daddy, Ol' Dirty Bastard, and Lil Kim engage in bloody battles.
