After creating an album based upon a previous character, actor Idris Elba has decided to try it again; announcing a new album based on John Luther, a police detective with a dark past that Elba currently plays in the BBC crime drama Luther.
Explains Elba, “Detectives carry a lot of stuff. They meet someone who’s done something heinous, but they have to have an objective perspective on them until proven... That could create some really good songs... and definitely an interesting mood, musically.”
Elba first got the idea after his portrayal of Nelson Mandela in "Long Walk To Freedom," which inspired him to record Mi Mandela, which features Mumford & Sons, James Black and more. He's previously collaborated with Musiq Soulchild and fellow brit Estelle.
The album has tentatively been titled Murder Loves John.
