J. Cole & Lil Nas X Make The Top 10 Of The Inaugural Hot 100 Songwriters Chart

YoungKio and T-Minus were listed among the top producers of the week.

(AllHipHop News) Billboard added a new weekly chart to rank the writers behind some of the biggest records in the country. Yesterday, the publication revealed the first Hot 100 Songwriters tally.

"Middle Child" rapper J. Cole came in at #2 behind Billie Eilish's brother FINNEAS. Atlanta-bred neophyte Lil Nas X landed in a five-way tie at #5. His "Old Town Road" collaborators Billy Ray Cyrus and Jocelyn “Jozzy” Donald were two of the other fifth placers. "Talk" singer Khaled rounded out the Top 10.

The inaugural Hot 100 Producers chart featured Hip Hop based talent as well. "Old Town Road" producer YoungKio tied Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross at #4. Reznor and Ross are credited as songwriters/producers for Lil Nas X's breakout hit because "Old Town Road" samples "34 Ghosts IV" by Nine Inch Nails. T-Minus' work on "Middle Child" and Young Thug's "The London" with J. Cole and Travis Scott helped the Canadian debut at #10.

Last week, Billboard released its rankings of the Top Songwriters Of 2018. Drake, Post Malone, XXXTentacion, Cardi B, Offset, and 6ix9ine were placed in the Top 10. Murda Beatz, Boi-1da, and Tay Keith made the Hot 100 Producers Of 2018 list.
