(AllHipHop News) October 1st will soon be known as "J Prince Day" At Texas Southern University. The HBCU is commemorating James “J” Prince for his impact on Hip Hop culture and his dedication to improving under-served communities.
Prince is the CEO of the Houston-based Rap-A-Lot Records. The label is responsible for releasing renowned rap albums by Geto Boys, Scarface, Bun B, Yukmouth, Big Mike, Do or Die, Devin the Dude, and more.
The businessman also helped bolster the careers of Canadian music superstar Drake and retired undefeated boxer Andre Ward. In addition, Prince penned his autobiography The Art & Science Of Respect which hit bookstores in July.
"Texas Southern University is honored that one of Houston’s and the world’s most accomplished entertainment executives will be here to visit with our students about his journey," says Dr. Austin A. Lane, president of Texas Southern University. "This is kicking off our President’s Speaker Series where we bring prominent individuals to connect with our students. It also dovetails nicely with our designation as a special purpose institution for urban programming."
"J Prince Day" will feature a panel discussion with James Prince, The Art & Science Of Respect book signing, and a luncheon. The event is scheduled to take place at the Granville M. Sawyer Auditorium.
