Ja Rule pleaded guilty to assault in Toronto, Canada and was fined $1,500 for punching a club patron in the eye.
According to the Associated Press, Ja said, I just want to say I apologize to the city of Toronto, I am just sorry for my actions."
The Grammy-nominated rapper was initially charged with charges of assault causing bodily harm, but pleaded not guilty to that infraction.
The charges stem from an incident in June 2004 at the La Rouge nightclub in Torontos entertainment district. Rules lawyer, Steve Skurka, said the case was the result of a punch after Ja was being persistently provoked. In court, Skurka said that the presiding judge denounced the club patrons deplorable behavior.
After his initial arrest, Ja was released on $10,000 bail.
In 2002, the Queens rapper was nominated for a pair of Grammys and the blooming thespian recently appeared in Assault On Precinct 13.
