(AllHipHop News) Back in 2001, Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter told the world his mission was to become the "100 Million Man." Seventeen years later, Mr. Carter has surpassed that amount nine times over.
Forbes released its annual list of America's Wealthiest Celebrities. Jay landed at #5 with a net worth of $900 million. According to the publication, the Hip Hop icon was the biggest dollar gainer from 2017 to 2018 among returning list members.
Jay reportedly gained $90 million in net worth over the last year from his business dealings involving Armand de Brignac, D'Ussé, Roc Nation, and Tidal. His $900 million in assets puts him in a tie with new entry Kylie Cosmetics owner Kylie Jenner ($900 million).
Star Wars creator George Lucas ($5.4 billion) placed at #1. He was followed by award-winning filmmaker Steven Spielberg ($3.7 billion), media mogul Oprah Winfrey ($2.8 billion), and NBA owner Michael Jordan ($1.7 billion).
Revolt TV network and Bad Boy Entertainment founder Sean "Diddy" Combs made the Top 10 at #8 with $825 million. Despite Kim Kardashian implying her husband Kanye West was close to being a billionaire, the Adidas Yeezy brand creator was not ranked among the wealthiest celebs by Forbes.
