(AllHipHop News) Rap star Young Jeezy is using his star power to help decrease gun violence around the country.
Jeezy recently embarked on his Street Dreamz Motivation Tour to talk to students about gun violence awareness and to promote peace.
Jeezy is presenting the tour with his Street Dreamz Motivation non-profit, which is an award-winning registered 501-3c Jeezy launched in 2001.
Over the weekend, the tour made a stop in the Portsmouth/Norfolk area of Virginia.
According to Jeezy, he was very concerned about the spike in violence around the region so he decided to do something about it.
Jeezy visited I.C. Norcom High School where he was greeted by heavyweight politicians like Senator L. Louise Lucas, NAACP President James Boyd, Vice Mayor Lisa Lucas-Burke and Dr. Elie Bracy III, Superintendent of Portsmouth Public Schools.
He gave a motivational speech that was greeted with enthusiasm from the students at I.C. Norcom, which is a historically black high school.
"We're here to help one another" said Jeezy as he took the microphone to deliver a powerful & heartfelt speech. "I've seen a lot of mistakes that have cost people their lives and have cost people their freedom" he continued. "I don't know you personally but I can look you in your eyes and tell you that I believe in each and every one of you and that I want you to believe in yourself like I believe in you."
