(AllHipHop News) Two of the most famous women to rise from The Bronx, New York City will appear on the big screen together in the near future. Jennifer Lopez and Belcalis "Cardi B" Almánzar are acting in the upcoming motion picture titled Hustlers.
The movie is based on the true story of New York City strip club employees creating a plan to usher in comeuppance for their Wall Street clients. J-Lo sat down with Tidal Director of Culture & Content Elliott Wilson for a new episode of CRWN, and she talked about being a fan of Cardi since her early days on Instagram.
"People used to be like, 'Who are you listening to?' She used to be like laying in her bed after she came home from the club," recalled Lopez. "I just found her so amusing. I grew up with people who talk like that. It was just so familiar to me. She has such a street sensibility in the way that she broke things down. I just knew she was from The Bronx."
J-Lo and Cardi also worked together on the 2018 single "Dinero" with DJ Khaled. The song's music video has over 96 million views on YouTube and won Best Collaboration at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards.
Besides starring in Hustlers, Lopez is also preparing to hit the road for the "It’s My Party: The Live Celebration" tour this summer, and she recently released the record "Medicine" featuring French Montana. Her Q&A with Wilson included the 49-year-old singer/actress discussing her new music, love for Hip Hop, and top emcee.
"Nas is one of my favorite rappers of all time. He might be my #1. He's my #1," revealed Lopez. "I don't think I've heard anybody who raps that hits me in the same way. Again, I think it's because of such a New York sensibility that he has, he sounds like the guys I grew up with, but he's also so intelligent. I always felt like he's so smart. I just love that. I just love his style."
