(AllHipHop News) Last year, Jhené Aiko teamed up with Big Sean for TWENTY88. But her most recent solo music project was 2014’s Souled Out.
Fans of “The Worst” singer have been patiently waiting for the next chapter in her individual catalog. It now appears Aiko is close to releasing her Trip 17 album.
In addition to dropping the recent singles "While We're Young" and "Hello Ego" featuring Chris Brown, the California native uploaded a 23-minute short film titled Trip to YouTube.
Trip takes viewers on a journey through love, loss, and self-discovery. Aiko co-wrote and directed the movie along with Girls Trip writer Tracy Oliver.
A large part of the flick revolves around the main character, Penny, dealing with the death of a sibling. In a 2016 interview with Vice, Aiko spoke about how losing her real-life brother Miyagi Hasani Ayo Chilombo to cancer in 2012 impacted her romantic relationships.
“I was lost in every sense of the word, just letting my mind wander to these different places that were really, really dark and trying to find him in a lover,” she explained. “I equated every guy to him… I was disappointed with the guy that I was with, because it’s like, ‘You’re not my brother.'”
