Jhene Aiko Launches "PennysPen Campaign" For National Day On Writing

The Grammy-nominated vocalist partners with Get Schooled for the new initiative.

(AllHipHop News) With today (October 20) being National Day On Writing, Jhené Aiko announces the launch of #PennysPen. The week-long campaign was created to urge young people to express themselves through writing.

“Writing poetry has always been a form of therapy for me and has helped me get through difficult situations,” states the Trip album creator. “When no one else understands, our journals can understand.” 

Aiko partnered with Get Schooled for the #PennysPen. The name of the initiative comes from the singer's alter ego “Penny” which represents her younger and purist self.

"Jhené has a powerful vision to inspire young people to understand the power of their pen. She understands that when young people can use their writing to express who they are and what they have experienced, they can become better advocates for themselves and their communities, “said Marie Groark, Executive Director of Get Schooled. "Get Schooled is excited to partner with Jhene in the fulfillment of this vision.”

Young people ages 13-21 can share their written work by posting it on Instagram or submitting it at [GetSchooled.com]( Top entries will be eligible for a #PennysPen writing kit. ). Top entries will be eligible for a #PennysPen writing kit. Students can also learn more about effective writing by completing the "Power of the Pen" badge on GetSchooled.com.

Jhené Aiko's #PennysPen campaign will run from October 20 through October 27th.
